The Week After NaNo Previous On the 29th Day of NaNo Next

Christmas fireworksWell, NaNoWriMo 2015 is now over – for me, anyway. I clocked out today at 86,331 words, which is not too bad for a story that got hijacked by its main character on the first day, went in a completely different direction than intended, and ended up spawning what my wife says should actually be a TV series, not a book. I’m not sure anyone actually has the money to film this, though, because so far on the creature front we have, in no particular order:

  • Hana the Bunnygirl (who is one of the main characters)
  • Mickey pigs
  • Laughing dogs
  • Cateets
  • Quetzalcoatls
  • Chupacabra
  • Jersey Devils
  • Velociraptors
  • Selkies
  • Dangerously Modified Turkeys (yes, I did it)
  • Tree people
  • Sasquatch/yeti
  • Hellbunnies
  • Angora gobbits
  • Attack geese
  • Drop bears
  • Bunyips
  • Waheela
  • Minotaurs
  • Pegasi
  • Nisse
  • Trolls
  • Mongolian Death Worms
  • Were-people or weres (what the in-universe news media calls modded humans)
  • And an owlbear

NaNo has been a fun ride this year, as you can tell, and I really hate to see it end. But I’m going to take a break from making new creatures and putting the boys into dangerous situations in  December anyway, because I’m already committed to a collaborative writing project, I have a few small fics I want to write and/or finish, and I want to put in some more work on In the Land of Ever After.  It’s gonna be a busy month!

Probably not 86,331 words and 25 creatures busy, though. 😉
