Someone on the Halloween Forum recommended this station, so I looked it up to see what it was like. I’ve been listening for a while this morning, and it’s nice – it’s definitely a different mix, and I haven’t heard any creepy earworm kids’ songs yet so I’m really liking that. I did hear some Halloween surf music earlier, which is a genre I really enjoy and is pretty rare so I enjoyed that quite a bit, and right now they’re playing something called “Hell’s Organist” that is entirely instrumental with quite a bit of percussion and some faint screaming in the background – the screaming was fine, could have done without the percussion. I’ve also heard some ragtime/blues, a few recognizable instrumental horror movie themes, and some other genre songs that were new to me. None of the usual kitschy stuff so far, which I sometimes get tired of because every Halloween playlist on 8tracks has those songs on it (and let’s face it, I have most of them in my iTunes library, too), so Musique Macabre is looking like a nice alternative to some of the more predictable Halloween music channels out there.
