NaNo-2015-Participant-BannerAs most of you probably already know, we’re just two weeks out from the start of National Novel Writing Month. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s an event held every November where people voluntarily commit themselves to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. Because some of us have never denied that we’re insane. 😉

NaNoWriMo has also become something of a community. There are regional groups that meet to write together all over the world. There is a huge forum where we can all talk to each other. There is a big official party in SF called the Night of Writing Dangerously. There are t-shirts and pins and posters and all in a manner of nifty things. Oh, and there are sponsor goodies for both winners and participants – I used one of those to get my copy of Scrivener, a fabulous piece of software which I’m now unsure how I ever wrote anything without. So you see, NaNoWriMo can be a lot of fun – stressful fun sometimes, especially since you’re in the final stretch of your word-count crunch during a major family holiday, but fun all the same.

NaNoWriMo 2015 cover imageI just finished posting the last bit of this year’s NaNo novel info, this pretty cover image I made for the book I’m planning to start writing two weeks from now. I’ll put up the NaNoWriMo word count widget here on the blog on November 1st so everyone can see how I’m doing, and if any of you are already participating – or want to start! – come find me on the NaNoWriMo website and we can be writing buddies. Or just catch me in the forums or at a write-in and say hi. Trust me, I’m a hell of a lot more scared of you than you are of me! 😉

NOTE: Updated the cover image on 10/18 after changing the name – and plot – of the novel. It’s better now, trust me.
