This week on The Happy Page: This isn’t the cave where Superman lives. For one thing, it’s a hell of a lot hotter.
I first saw the Naica Crystal Caves in a National Geographic program years and years ago, and they’re still fascinating. One of the things I like about this particular video is that Dylan offers a size comparison so you can get an idea of just how big some of these crystals actually are. They’re also burning hot to the touch, and relatively soft – it may look kind of like quartz in the videos, but gypsum is nowhere near as hard as that.
On a side note: This week’s video was posted late because I had an emergency root canal on Saturday, after which I pretty much forgot all about updating anything. And nobody reminded me that I’d forgotten, so this is as much all of your faults as it is mine. 😛
