Sure you do, because it’s Read An Ebook Week at Smashwords, and a whole bunch of ebooks from their catalog are either discounted or FREE until March 11, 2017.
Yes, including the ones I have published there: Tales from the Crossing at Barracuda Flats, A Wolf in the Woods, and Honk (disclaimer: those last two were already free). But if you’ve already read those – or they just aren’t your cup of word-tea today – there are plenty more books to choose from. And authors are still adding their books to the promotion, so if you don’t see anything that calls to you right away, check back later.
Going to insert a little request here: Indy authors do not get much feedback, so if you find something you like during Read An Ebook Week, please take a moment to let the author know you enjoyed their work. You can share the book on social media by clicking a button, leave likes or feedback for the author at one of the Where To Find (author name) Online links in their Smashwords profile, or even write a review on the book page. And yes, a simple ‘I really enjoyed this book’ or ‘This was a fun read’ is perfectly appropriate – in spite of what you may have heard, most of us aren’t so arrogant that we turn our noses up at anything less than a full literary critique of our work. We want you to read and enjoy and hopefully come back for more, and your feedback lets us know you did and you might. Which is what keeps us all writing, don’t you know – because we’re certainly not in it for the money. 😉
