Comment-Spam Love

Sometimes, the Story Chooses You Previous Garden Surprise! Next

Within the space of a few hours, my spam filter caught 30 little fishies for me to look through (I have to look, just in case it catches a non-spam comment by mistake). There were the usual pitches for random products, a bit more Clash of Clans – is there something I should know about this game? – and standard spammy messages garbled into hilarious incoherency by people copy-typing boilerplate text in a language they don’t speak or read. And then…

“I’m really enjoying the design and layout of your website.
It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a developer to create your theme? Outstanding work!”

I know Christie is a spammer, and my blog is kind of obviously running on a standard WordPress theme (although I did make the custom header), but that was still nice. And then a couple more nigh-on incomprehensible spam comments later, it happened again. Repeatedly, thanks to an outpouring of really sweet spam from some Las Vegas escorts:

  • “I’ve learn some good stuff here. Certainly worth bookmarking for revisiting.”
  • “whoah this weblog is fantastic”
  • “This blog is magnificent i love reading your posts. Keep up the great work!”
  • “Pretty! This has been an extremely wonderful post.”
  • “I do not recognise who you might be however certainly you are going to a famous blogger if you aren’t already. Cheers!”
  • “I blog often and I truly appreciate your content. The article has really peaked my interest. I will bookmark your website and keep checking for new information about once a week. I opted in for your Feed as well.”
  • “Hi there, I enjoy reading all of your article. I like to write a little comment to support you.”

That last one was from Susanne. Hugs for you, Susanne. And for Christina, who apparently subscribed to my feed. I will happily read spam from you and your friends every day, my dears.

If anyone else is feeling the love but doesn’t want to be mistaken for a Las Vegas escort in the comments, all of the posts here at GKG now have a little heart at the bottom you can click to like them in a non-Facebook way.  There are buttons for sharing, too, but I’m not sure I’ve blogged anything yet that rates a social media share – we’ll save the sharing love for when I start posting pictures of Natasha, also known as Tasha-Bear:

TASHABEAR

Or for when I publish another book. 😉
