cover of Dracula Unredacted from Pelgrane PressI have unusual literary tastes, I admit it. Which is one reason why some time ago I backed a Kickstarter project by Pelgrane Press for something called The Dracula Dossier. Why, you’re asking, would I back a project for a tabletop RPG module when I don’t have anybody to play with? Well, that would be because Pelgrane Press produces fabulous content for its games, not all of which you have to be playing the game to enjoy. And this project included a new edition of Stoker’s Dracula called Dracula Unredacted.

The linked description above will explain what this is all about much better than I could, especially since I haven’t had time to read more than the first dozen perfectly formatted pages of Dracula Unredacted since receiving the PDF three days ago. But even just what I’ve read so far has really drawn me in. If you follow my own writing, you already know that I really like mixing things up, rearranging them, putting one thing with another thing and then adding a few more things and making them all work together. Well, surprise surprise, I like reading that sort of thing too when it’s well-done, and I already knew that if it was coming from Pelgrane Press it would be done very well indeed. I can’t offer a full review at this point for obvious reasons, but I can say that so far the book has met if not exceeded my expectations and I can’t wait to read the rest of it.

Dracula Unredacted won’t be available to non-backers until sometime next month, but if in the meantime you’d like to sample some of Pelgrane’s other offerings, their website is stuffed full of fascinating things you might enjoy. And I’d also recommend subscribing to their webzine, See Page XX, which is a good way to keep up with any new projects they have coming out.
