Because what better way to start a new year, right? 😉
This is Minerva – Minnie for short. Yes, as in McGonagall.

Minnie came to live with us last night after someone in our neighborhood posted on the community forum that they’d found a tiny, wild kitten living in their garage and couldn’t keep it because their child is allergic. They weren’t having any luck, so I let them know that if nobody else volunteered, we would take the kitten. And that was how we ended up going to pick up a kitten in a cardboard box from a freezing cold garage at 10:30 at night the day before New Year’s Eve.
As it turned out, Minnie wasn’t wild, she was just really scared. She only weighs 1 1/2 pounds and we think she’s only about 8 weeks old.* The older cats aren’t quite sure what to make of her because she’s so small, but she’s in one of our big traveling cages and not eating their food so they aren’t too bothered. Tony is fascinated and ready to make friends, and Cupcake is alternating between curious and jealous.

Happy New Year’s, everyone! Here’s to hoping it will be a good one.
*UPDATE: Minnie went to the vet yesterday (2 Jan 17), and it turns out she’s only 6 weeks old and was likely taken away from her mother too early. But she is healthy, cuddly, and starting to get playful now. Not to mention just adorably greedy when it comes to her food.
Aww, look at that face!
Here, have a better picture – she’s currently laying in our son’s girlfriend’s lap, being fascinated by texting.

She’s definitely thinking she landed “in the lap of luxury”! I’m glad you found her.
