Told you there was a reason I forgot about the Halloween post until the last minute. Here is that reason:

This is Cupcake, who is four months old and came to live with us on Saturday, and who is currently residing in the office while she settles in. Do not be deceived by how cute she looks. She’s been on and off my desk for most of this morning so far, trying to steal the straw out of my coffee and just generally running and jumping all over the place. Which of course wore her out, so right now she’s sleeping in my lap – unlike the other cats, Cupcake is actually small enough to be in my lap without shoving the keyboard back under the desk and she’s considerate enough not to bite me when I type.

Cupcake is a very friendly, loving kitten…as long as you’re a human. The other cats in our house – except for Patches, because the undead know no fear – are terrified of her. Bear in mind that most of them are easily three times her size and quite possibly eat half her weight in food every day, but she has still smacked every single one of them in the face just on general principles. We’re working on getting her and Tony to play together, because Tony needs an energetic playmate and when she’s not throwing shade around Cupcake really likes to play.

So, that is why I was distracted this weekend – I have a new tiny office-mate that can purr really loud and jump really high. And scare other cats really, really well: Remy, our Maine Coon, snuck into the office just now to try to eat her food, and the minute I put her down where he could see her he was backing toward the door. Having a new kitten is fun! 😉
