There’s regular LARP and then there’s ALL THE LARP, which is what Lukáš Makovička and his friends do for fun. It was an out-of-context picture on Pinterest that drew me over to his website and right into a collection of photos from an annual LARP called De la Bête, a “high-production game inspired by French novels, legends and great themes of the late Ancien Régime period” which looks like the most awesome thing ever – and not just because I’m currently writing a story set partially in non-historical France that has a Beast or two in it. De la Bête is a game for 97 people that takes 48 hours to play, and they get to play it in buildings like the one pictured above – yes, that’s a photo from the 2014 game in progress. Click through to Viper’s website for more great photos, or head over to the De la Bête page on LARPPortal to find out more about the game.
